On a Personal Note...

Dear Readers,

First, thank you so much for reading any or all of my blog over the past year-and-a-half. It's hard to describe the feeling of finding out that writing about an idea or experience provides value to someone else. It's fulfilling. Sometimes surprising.

I wanted to let you know what I'll be up to this coming school year. I'm actually taking a year off from teaching in order to blog and create resources full time. I know I'm going to miss seeing a couple dozen third graders every day, but I am extremely excited and very thankful to have this new adventure.

I have no shortage of ideas, both stockpiled from this past year, and trickling in as we speak. Can you hear the trickle? So I plan to post more often during the upcoming school year, which I hope is a good thing for you. Stay tuned for a post or two in the coming weeks about organizing your literacy block!

Here's to building thinkers together!

Reader's Notebook Response Pages: Resource Details & GIVEAWAY!

I'm really excited about my expanded line of Reader's Notebook resources, and I want to make sure you understand all of the new options and combinations that you can get.

I've used these reader's notebook response pages with my own students extensively, to aid whole group reading lessons, for small group book clubs, with partner reading assignments, and with guided reading groups. They can be used as individual reading response sheets or stapled into fun little reader's notebooks. Here are a few photos of my students using pages from my resources:

I originally had just two main notebook resources, one to use with literature and one to use with informational text. Here's what they used to look like:

Here's what the the cover pages look like after a little makeover:

These resources have always had three differentiated levels of response pages. They are nicknamed: Light Roast (lower level, wider line-spacing), Medium Roast (middle level, original line-spacing), and Dark Roast (higher level, smaller line-spacing). (The nicknames are a nod to my love for iced-coffee.)

Since many teachers in younger elementary grades may not need the Dark Roast level, and many teachers in older elementary grades may not need the Light Roast level, I created editions containing just two of the differentiated levels, instead of all three, for a lower price.

For example, you can get the original resource for literature (shown above) with only the Light Roast and Medium Roast levels, and save $4. And likewise, you can get it with only the Medium Roast and Dark Roast levels, and save $4. (See the covers below.)

And after numerous requests, I also created full-page versions of everything! Oh yes I did.

To help show all of the different choices and bundles, I made the infographic below. Click on the picture, and it will take you to a free download from my TpT shop. Not only does the infographic visually explain the different options, it also has icons linked to every choice available. So if you are interested in one of my Reader's Notebook resources, but aren't sure which one is right for you, downloading the free infographic is a great place to start.
